Wall-to-Wall Fans

GAMBIER, Ohio (January 25, 2011)

We recently urged our Facebook fans to wear their hearts on their sleeves . . . Kenyon style. Fans were invited to post photos of themselves sporting Kenyon gear (hats, shirts, you name it) on Kenyon's Facebook page between January 3 and January 15 and tell us where the photo was taken. Those who posted photos were entered in a drawing for a new Kenyon T-shirt, and all the names and photos were plotted onto a Kenyon Pride Google map. Kenyon Pride sightings were made in such far-flung locations as Santa's Workshop in North Pole, Alaska, and Beagle Channel at the southern tip of South America. Although we don't presume to measure anyone's loyalty to Kenyon by the contents of their closet, we hope you enjoy a sampling of the Kenyon Pride submissions on this special edition of our Web site's photowall.

The lucky winner of the drawing was Ginger McBride '99, who wore her Kenyon T-shirt this summer at Pointe-au-Baril, Ontario, Canada. Though there can be only one winner for the T-shirt drawing, the staff members in Public Affairs couldn't resist highlighting a few noteworthy submissions below:

Cutest onesie... ever. Kate Druschel Griffin '99 posted this picture of her daughter Emma (Kenyon hopeful, Class of 2032). All together now: "Aww...."

Fan most in need of a new Kenyon T-shirt. Yes, we know we can only draw one name for the contest, but in the case of Bob Ruley '89, we are making an exception.

Most interesting location. Neal Mayer '63 posted this photo of himself in the Beagle Channel, Tierra del Fuego (Patagonia), Chile/Argentina. We'd like to volunteer to come along and snap Neal in his Kenyon gear at his next travel destination.

Most intriguing photo that was not actually Kenyon clothing. Hannah Sacks '08 posted an original newspaper clipping announcing the construction of the building that would eventually be known as Old Kenyon.

Greatest use of foreshadowing. Elizabeth Ono Rahel '76 snapped her daughter, Kate Rahel, in a Kenyon T-shirt when she was just three years old and paired it with a photo taken at Kate's graduation from Kenyon in 2009.

Feet with the most Kenyon pride. Charmayne Cooley '06 is not only sporting Kenyon flip flops, but she's got the purple pedicure to go with them.

Coolest hat. What's the best zip code in the nation? Barbara Webb Coyle '80 knows it has to be 43022.
