Kenyon Fund Executive Committee

The mission of the Kenyon Fund Executive Committee (KFEC) is to represent the Kenyon alumni body in managing the progress of the Kenyon Fund. The Executive Committee is responsible for advising the staff on the goal setting, strategic planning, tactical implementation and monitoring of the Kenyon Fund. The Kenyon Fund Executive Committee is ultimately responsible to the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees through the Kenyon College Office of Alumni and Parent Programs.

The Kenyon Fund Executive Committee is the leadership group for the Kenyon Fund, which has an extensive volunteer network comprised of over 300 volunteers who encourage their fellow alumni and alumnae to support the Kenyon Fund. In addition to the positions listed below, these volunteers may be class agents, reunion committee members, phonathon callers, or former student volunteers. The KFEC meets twice a year, once in the fall and again in February.

The KFEC is comprised of a Chair, Vice Chair, Past Chair, Leadership Giving Program Chair, and other members who represent various strategic constituencies of the Kenyon Fund. Members of the Committee serve a three-year term, normally renewable once; the Chair serves a two-year term. At any time during a Chair's term, a Vice Chair may be appointed by the College in consultation with the Chair. The appointment of the Vice Chair (who will succeed the Chair) will normally be made, however, before the beginning of the Chair's second campaign year.

KFEC members are responsible for:

  • Advising staff on goals and strategies for the annual Kenyon Fund effort
  • Evaluating results of most recent Kenyon Fund in order to identify opportunities for greater fundraising success and areas that need improvement
  • Serving as liaisons between volunteers and staff at the College
  • Assisting with all aspects of the Kenyon Fund
  • Assisting with cultivation and recognition of donors

The Kenyon Fund Chair is the chief Kenyon Fund volunteer. He or she advises on goal setting and advises and assists with all strategies for successful achievement of goals including direct mail, volunteer structure, telephone and personal solicitation, donor acknowledgment and recognition. Specifically, the Kenyon Fund chair serves a two-year term and has responsibility for the following:

  • With Director of Annual Funds, develops agenda for two KFEC meetings each year and presides over the meetings
  • Recruits vice chair and other KFEC members
  • Solicits major Kenyon Fund prospects
  • Monitors Kenyon Fund progress during the year, troubleshooting as needed
  • Evaluates Kenyon Fund program
  • Participates in overall development planning and evaluation and in a summer orientation meeting
  • Attends Alumni Awards Luncheon during Reunion Weekend, giving the annual Kenyon Fund report and presenting Kenyon Fund awards

The Vice Chair of the Kenyon Fund is normally recruited by the fall meeting of the second year of a chair's term. The vice chair assists the chair with the responsibilities listed above and succeeds the chair for a two-year term.

The Leadership Giving Program Chair serves a three-year term and has the following responsibilities:

  • Advises on strategy for solicitation (personal, mail, phone, e-mail) of all Kenyon Fund non-reunion prospects of $1,000 and more
  • Recruits regional leadership giving program associates, assigns prospects to them, and monitors their progress
  • Assists in recognition of leadership donors, including the President's regional recognition receptions
  • Solicits leadership prospects
  • Evaluates effectiveness of leadership giving effort
