Why an Owl?

No, it's not the official Kenyon mascot. (If you want to know more about that, visit our athletic pages and read about the amazing Kenyon Lords and Ladies.)

But Kenyon is a place where passions abound and people follow their curiosities. We began to notice just how many connections link Kenyon and owls, starting with our local river, the Kokosing, whose Native American name means "place of owls." We were intrigued and a bit surprised to discover more connections beyond that.

It just kind of blossomed from there.

We hope you enjoy the Kenyon owl pictured on this page. The owl carries our name into the world from time to time, and we knew people would want to know how to care for this marvelous creature if it flew into their vicinity-which is how this page came about.
