Changing your application from Regular to Early Decision 2

(For applicants to the Class of 2016 entering Kenyon in August 2012, please note the deadline will be extended to January 17 in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.)

Occasionally, as January nears, we hear from Regular Decision applicants who decide that Kenyon is definitely their first choice and ask if they can convert their application to Early Decision. The answer is YES. You can convert to Early Decision 2 up until January 15.

January 15 is the date by which all materials must be postmarked for Early Decision 2. If you apply Early Decision by that date, we will mail our decision on your application on February 1. (Regular Decision applicants hear from us in late March.)

Keep in mind that Early Decision (ED) is a complex personal choice and is the right road to travel only if Kenyon is your first choice. If you are admitted as an ED applicant, you must withdraw other applications and enroll at Kenyon. Since ED is binding, only students who are certain Kenyon is their first-choice college should choose this option.

ED 2 applicants applying for financial aid will receive a tentative package with their decision letters if they submit the PROFILE online by January 15. (Ultimately, we also require aid applicants to submit the FAFSA as soon as possible.)

To change from Regular Decision to ED 2, please notify the Office of Admissions by e-mail (admissions@kenyon.edu), by letter, or by calling Terri Huvler at 1-800-848-2468 no later than January 15. If you have questions about ED, call 1-800-848-2468. Any admissions staff member will be able to help you.
