What will happen after the visit?
At their exit interview, the visit team will brief the President, senior staff, and others present on their recommendations and the major points of their report. After leaving campus the visit team will draft a report that includes recommendations and advice for improvements. They will send that report to the college asking for corrections of errors of fact. Once the college has had the opportunity to amend errors of fact and draft its reply, the visit team chair will pass the report and the response on to the Higher Learning Commission. At this point all of the documents related to the visit are sent either to a Reading Panel or a Review Panel, depending on the college's response to the report. If the organization agrees with the report then the documents go to a Reading Panel and then to the Institutional Actions Council for action. If the organization disagrees with any points in the report, the case would be sent to a Review Committee for arbitration. No recommendation is final until it has been approved by the Board of Trustees of the Higher Learning Commission, which can take up to six months to complete.
