Parish supports county needy

When a hungry Knox County family receives provisions from Interchurch Social Services this winter or a family moves into a new Habitat home, chances are that some of the thanks will go to Harcourt Parish, whose fundraising efforts this fall have netted nearly $10,000 to benefit local causes. A rummage sale held in September raised approximately $8,000. A further $1,945 was garnered from a Family Weekend raffle of the purple "Kenyon Mom" coat donated by Jamie Lee Curtis P'09. The winner of the raffle was another Kenyon mom, Maria Humphries of Staten Island, New York, mother of Melissa '12.

The Harcourt Parish Outreach Committee will meet this month to allocate the funds. Last year, the bulk of funds raised were distributed to Habit for Humanity and Interchurch Social Services of Knox County, with some funds also going to Curamerica and an orphanage in Africa.
