Kenyon Symphonic Wind Ensemble in Weekend Concert
GAMBIER, Ohio (October 15, 2009)The Kenyon College Symphonic Wind Ensemble presents its annual Family Weekend Concert on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m. in Rosse Hall Auditorium, 105 College Drive.
Under the direction of Associate Professor of Music Dane Heuchemer, the 66-member ensemble will perform four pieces, including Illyrian Dances by Guy Woolfenden; March from Symphonic Metamorphosis by Paul Hindemith; Armenian Dances: Book One by Alfred Reed; and In the Tavern from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.
"The Family Weekend concert has become something of a tradition, going back to October 2001," Heuchemer said. Established at Kenyon in 1994, the ensemble is dedicated to providing a collaborative environment in which Kenyon students and members of the Gambier community can play high-caliber music. The group's repertoire represents a wide variety of works and styles from the Renaissance through the 21st century.
