Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour Visits Knox County
GAMBIER, Ohio (September 29, 2009)The Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour, hosted by Kenyon College, comes to Knox County on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. in the Knox County Career Center, 306 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon.
The national tour is designed to inspire and teach people to start a business and run it. The program features keynote speeches by two young entrepreneurs, who will share the challenges and successes they have encountered and give advice about creating an entrepreneurial mindset. A workshop will help participants develop business ideas based on their strengths and interests. The event is also an opportunity for participants to communicate with each other.
"What's particularly exciting to me is that the people who present this event are under-30 entrepreneurs who have gone out and done it already, and I really think students can identify with them," said Ted Rice, an event organizer and the director of Innovation Greenhouse, a Kenyon program designed to help students develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
The tour is sponsored by Kenyon, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Central Ohio Technical College, the Knox County Career Center, the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County, and the Ariel Corporation. One of the goals of the local support is to connect students from each college, leading to collaborative ideas and projects. "This is, hopefully, just the beginning of bringing students from all three schools together," Rice said.
This event is free and open to anyone who wishes to participate. Those who want to take part must register online at www.extremetour.org. For more information, contact Rice at 740-398-6267or at ricet@kenyon.edu.
