GAMBIER, Ohio (September 15, 2009) Kenyon will celebrate Constitution Day with a visit from federal Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton, who will discuss "The Role of History in Judging and Other Influences on Judges" on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Peirce Lounge.

Sutton has served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit since 2003, after nomination by President George W. Bush. Sutton clerked for Supreme Court justices Lewis Powell and Antonin Scalia. He has worked in private practice in Columbus, Ohio, and is a former Ohio state solicitor and former adjunct professor of law at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Sutton has also worked as a high school history teacher and soccer coach.

Constitution Day is celebrated nationally on September 17.

Sutton's visit to Kenyon is sponsored by the Kenyon College Center for the Study of American Democracy. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. For more information, call 740-427-5423.
