Top Ten Report (formerly "Hiring Report II")

The purpose of the Top Ten Report is to present the results of the initial recruitment and screening efforts. This gives the Office of Equal Opportunity, as well as the Provost or Associate Provost (for faculty searches), a chance to look for any improprieties and to address them before the search progresses to formal interviews. Any changes in the search committee or recruitment plan should be recorded in the Top Ten Report.

The ranking of top candidates should include a brief but clear indication of why the candidates were ranked as they were. Make reference to essential aspects of the position and to corresponding qualifications of the applicants.

When reviewing the Top Ten Report, the Director of Equal Opportunity will review the confidential demographic data gathered during the application process. If the applicant pool is not sufficiently diverse, search chairs may be asked to extend the application deadline or engage in additional outreach efforts.
