Robert A. Mauck, Junior Trustee Teaching Execellence Award

You, Bob Mauck, have been selected by the trustees of Kenyon College to receive this award because of the high esteem that your students and colleagues accord to you. Admired for both your teaching and scholarship, you are respected by colleagues who note the attributes you bring to the classroom that set you apart from your peers. They cite the "wonderful guidance" of your students as the best example of your roles of "mentor, inspiration, and passionate colleague." Through your own exemplary research concerning behavioral ecology, you have impressed your peers by your ability to "seamlessly integrate outstanding teaching with cutting-edge research." You have been praised for providing a wonderful mentoring environment for your students, many of whom regularly join you for summer research opportunities at the Bowdoin College Scientific Station on Kent Island, New Brunswick. The College has also benefited from the service you have provided, whether as faculty representative on Senate or with the Brown Family Environmental Center and the Local Foods Initiative. Most recently, you excelled in the role of chair of the search committee that resulted in the appointment of Kenyon's next provost. For your distinguished commitment and excellent performance in all that you do for the College, you are recognized today.
