Harassment Examined in Mamet Play at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio (February 9, 2009)

The Kenyon Department of Dance and Drama presents Oleanna, a play by David Mamet, on Feb. 19 and 21 at 8 p.m. at the Hill Theater, 203 College-Park Street.

The play about perceptions of sexual harassment premiered in 1992 in the wake of the Congressional hearings into the Supreme Court nomination of Clarence Thomas and the harassment allegations made against him by Anita Hill. The play was later made into a movie.

The late playwright and actor Harold Pinter, who directed the play in 1993, said, "There can be no tougher or more unflinching play than Oleanna."

Directed by senior Griffin Horn of New Hope, Pa., the cast includes senior Marielle Ebersol of Litchfield, Conn., as Carol and senior Clay von Carlowitz of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, as John.

Tickets cost $1. The theater box office is open from 1 to 5 p.m. the week of the show and one hour before the performance. For more information, call 740-427-5546 or visit www.kenyon.edu.
