Student Privacy and Records

In accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA, or the Buckley Amendment), which requires that colleges and universities protect the privacy of student records, it is Kenyon College's policy NOT to release certain information to anyone other than the student, unless the student has given us express permission to do so. This includes (but is not limited to): student grades, transcripts, discipline records, disability information, financial aid, class schedules, and other educational information and records. We strongly encourage parents and students to have an open discussion regarding personal responsibility privacy during the college years. Should a student desire to release these records to his or her parents, it is his or her responsibility to sign an "Authorization to Release Information" form and return it (in person) to the registrar's office. More information on this policy can be found on the registrar's Web site at http://registrar/FERPA_policy.htm, and a sample form may be found here.
