An Opera Sampler
GAMBIER, Ohio (November 26, 2008) The Kenyon Musical Theater and Opera Workshop performs small acts from the world's finest operas in a free concert at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, on the campus.Students will perform selections from these operas at the Brandi Recital Hall in Storer Hall, 105 College Dr.: The Magic Flute and Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, L'incoronazione di Poppea by Claudio Monteverdi , and Hansel and Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck.
Peggy Dye, adjunct instructor of voice, directs the performance. The cast includes junior Alex Carroll of Boston; first-year student Heather Crowley of La Canada, Calif.; senior Kate Hamilton of Columbus, Ind.; junior Anne Kruk of Lima, N.Y.; senior Diana Ruskin of Falls Church, Va.; first-year student Margaret Sappey of Brown Deer, Wis.; and first-year student Alexandra Zott of Hinsdale, Ill. Dye is a soprano who has performed at the Houston Grand Opera; Opera Atelier of Toronto, Canada; the San Francisco Opera; the Shanghai Opera; the Tulsa Opera; the Utah Opera; and the Washington National Opera. She lives in Commercial Point, Ohio. The public is invited to attend.
