Mixing Religion and Politics
GAMBIER, Ohio (October 14, 2008) Randall Balmer, an expert on religion in America who has scripted and hosted two television documentaries, will discuss faith and presidential politics at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2008, at the Higley Auditorium on the Kenyon campus.Balmer, professor of American religious history at Barnard College, Columbia University, in New York City, will present a lecture called "So Help Me God: Religion and the Presidency from John F. Kennedy to George W. Bush."
Balmer is the author of several books including God in the White House and Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory: A Journey into the Evangelical Subculture in America. The latter book was the basis for a Public Broadcasting Service documentary Balmer wrote and hosted called Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory. Balmer also wrote and hosted the PBS documentary The Life of Billy Graham. Balmer is an editor for Christianity Today magazine.
