Media Relations
Kenyon's media relations operation actively places news about Kenyon in national, state, and local media to enhance the College's visibility and reputation. The office runs a hometown news-release program publicizing student achievements, such as graduation and the merit list. The sports information staff reports scores for Kenyon's athletic teams and runs its own hometown news-release operation to document the accomplishments of student athletes.
The director of public affairs serves as the chief spokesperson for the College. In times of crisis, all media calls should be directed to the Office of Public Affairs. Many of our faculty experts have cultivated a good working relationship with members of the press. Faculty members not accustomed to speaking with the press are encouraged to contact Public Affairs for advice before taking calls. We are happy to field initial queries on any matter.
Public Affairs writes and distributes news releases about campus speakers and events. The distribution lists include campus, local, and state media outlets. National news sources are contacted when appropriate. A two-week lead time is required for most events. While not all campus events are suitable for news releases, virtually all events are appropriate for the online calendar.
