Social Activist Barbara Ehrenreich Talks at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio (October 1, 2008) Journalist and social activist Barbara Ehrenreich will discuss the American economy and social order in a lecture called "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America" at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, at Kenyon College.

Ehrenreich, who has written 20 books, will appear at Rosse Hall, 105 College Dr., Gambier, for a talk that is free and open to the public. She is a former columnist for Mother Jones, Ms. and Time magazines.

Based on street-level and undercover reporting, Ehrenreich explored what she believes to be the "war on the middle class," pursuing a theme of worker exploitation undermining blue-collar workers and downwardly mobile white-collar workers in her books Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America and Bait and Switch: The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream.
