Accessibility Information
Kenyon College is a beautiful historic campus which was designed primarily as a walking campus. The main thoroughfare is a gravel surfaced pathway known as Middle Path which connects the residential buildings on the north end of campus to the south academic buildings.
Most of the events during Commencement Weekend will happen in buildings on the south end of campus, with Middle Path being the most efficient travel route and walking the primary mode of transportation for guests. The Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies will be outdoors (except in cases of extreme weather) at the traditional site on the lawn of Samuel Mather Hall.
The information listed below is to help you plan for any accessibility considerations you or your guests may need during Commencement Weekend. Accessible/Disability Parking and Drop Off Points
A state-issued disability parking permit suffices for parking in designated accessible spaces or restricted lots (during Commencement Weekend) on the campus. Guests who are in need of accessible parking can also acquire a disability parking placard from the registration center in the Kenyon College Bookstore.
Sign Language Interpreters
There will be American Sign Language interpreters at both the Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies located on the right hand side as guests face the stage. Reserved seating near the right hand side of the stage will be provided for easy visibility.
Wheelchair Rental
The commencement office will facilitate the rental of wheelchairs from local providers and have them available for pick up at the registration center in the Gund Commons Game Room when guests arrive. Renting a wheelchair can be done via the online registration form beginning Thursday, March 1.
Club Cars and Shuttles
Commencement student workers will be on-call to assist guests with club cars on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19. Contact information for requesting a ride will be available at the registration center when guests arrive for Commencement Weekend.
College vans will be standing by to help guests who require assistance going up and down Gambier's formidable hill if either ceremony is moved to the indoor site in Toan Indoor Track of the Kenyon Athletic Center.
