Senior Exercise

The comprehensive examination is designed to measure the student's ability to treat significant concerns of the history of art with reference to traditional and contemporary literature. The comprehensive exam is divided into two parts:

  • Part I: The slide examination consists of 25 slide identification of basic monuments (3pts. each) and 5 unknowns (5pts. each); this exam is one hour in length and is usually scheduled on a Friday afternoon in late February.
  • Part II: Two essay questions, selected from a total of three general and several specific questions. This exam is two hours in length and usually is scheduled on the subsequent Monday afternoon in late February.
