Creativity Summit

Sprouting Ideas, Cultivating Action

Creativity SummitThe 2011 Innovation Greenhouse Creativity Summit took place on October 1 in the Cheever Conference Room. Students from Kenyon joined community members and staff to explore their creativity and learn about entrepreneurial innovation. The summit featured a keynote workshops led by Robert Fishbone, a dynamic speaker on creativity and entrepreneurship.

Fishbone started the day by talking about his start in the entrepreneurial world. He showed the group how his love for art and invention led to more and more possibilities. After lunch, the group had the chance to discuss some of their plans and ideas for the future and then was broken into smaller groups for a workshop session. The day was completed when Mr. Fishbone took one idea from start to finish as to how to implement a plan for action. Fishbone's philosophy is that everyone should start their day with a purpose. You should ask yourself when you get out of bed, "What is my intention for the day?". He also emphasized that everyone needs to make time to be creative. Make it a goal to have at least one creative idea everyday, write it down and then look at your ideas at the end of the week and again at the end of the month. Do you still like the idea? Is it worth pursuing? This is how creativity moves from an idea to an invention.
