Demian Cho

Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics

Growing up in Seoul, Korea, Demian was introduced to physics by reading an article written by a well-known gravitational physicist Bryce DeWitt, and eventually earned his B.S. and Ph.D in physics from the University of Texas and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, respectively. After spending three years in the Raman Research Institute in India thinking about gravity under coconut trees, he came back to the US and taught at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls before moving to Kenyon. Even though he is now too old and wise to be naive, he still believes in beauty hidden in our universe, and is glad to be able to contribute in our endeavor to unveil it.

Education

Ph.D. University of Wisonsin-Milwaukee

Research Interests

Demian's area of specialty is gravitational physics commonly known as General Relativity. He has worked on a range of problems from gravitational radiation reaction to quantum gravity on a higher dimensional universe. His recent research is focused on gravitational radiation reaction problems associated with rotational black holes, and quantum field theory in the early universe.
