Research Interests
Paula Turner uses near infrared astronomical array images to characterize the relative contributions of starlight, ionized gas, and hot dust to the central regions of merging galaxy systems.
Outreach programs
In addition to acting as director of the Miller Observatory on Kenyon's campus, Professor Turner also directs the following outreach programs:
- Consortium for Undergraduate Research and Education in Astronomy (Solar and stellar observing program for undergrads, held at Mount Wilson Observatory outside Pasadena, California)
- KEEP Program (Summer course on Data Analysis (part of an academic preparation program for incoming Kenyon students of color)
- Kenyon Academic Partnership (KAP) Physics Group (HS-college dual enrollment program offering credit for Kenyon's PHYS 140 course)
