Where to Stay and Eat

Gambier, Mount Vernon, and the surrounding communities in central Ohio offer a range of lodging and dining choices convenient to Kenyon. The College operates the Kenyon Inn, right on campus. A block away is the charming Gambier House, one of several bed-and-breakfast inns in the area. A ten-minute drive brings you to Mount Vernon, with many more lodging options.

The culinary-conversational crossroads of Gambier is the Middle Ground café, where just about everybody stops for coffee, a chat with friends, soothing soups (try the apple-butternut squash bisque), creative wraps, and salads featuring local organic produce. Also popular are the Village Inn, with its comfortable front-room booths and gleaming bar, and the Kenyon Inn, for more elegant, intimate outings. In Mount Vernon, you can find everything from the retro Southside Diner to the bustling Hunan Garden, where Kenyonites satisfy their cravings for Chinese food. Casual, formal, ethnic, eclectic, traditional, experimental, sit-down, drive-through, and of course all the usual variations on pizza and burger: all are available within an easy drive of campus.

A tip: for visits during busy times like Family Weekend and Commencement, plan ahead and make reservations.
