Grief Support Information

Grief results from losing someone special and can turn a person's life upside down. The grieving individual is forced to make a change and to confront a harsh new reality. As a fellow coworker, you can assist the grieving person. Hospice of Knox County has a wonderful pamphlet, entitled When a Coworker Suffers a Loss (posted with the permission of the Hospice of Knox County Bereavement Coordinator), that helps you to understand what the grieving person is experiencing and what you can do to assist the person.

If you are a student grieving the death of someone special, the Health and Counseling Center sponsors a grief support group. For employees, Hospice of Knox County provides bereavement support groups and services.

Employees may also nominate fellow coworkers for PACT (Presidential Advisory and Communications Team) Holiday Cheer Baskets. While the Events Committee starts requesting and compiling names in November, the baskets are assembled and delivered by PACT representatives in December.
