Top Performers in Concert
GAMBIER, Ohio (January 15, 2008) The Angela Waite Student Recital brings together the finest of Kenyon's musicians and vocalists at 7 p.m. Saturday. Eight students will perform in a recital that is free and open to the public at the Brandi Recital Hall in Storer Hall on the campus.Students were selected through a juried performance to appear in the twice-yearly Waite recital. Winning students competed with hundreds of instrumentalists and vocalists before juries of faculty members who evaluate the work as a final exam.
These students will perform: Yi Dai, Class of 2010, of Changsha, China, piano; Julia DeNiro, Class of 2010, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, flute; Teresa Girolamo, Class of 2008, of Syracuse, New York, piano; Samantha Goodin, Class of 2010, of Solon, Ohio, violin; Christopher Holden, Class of 2008, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania., piano; Joseph Johnston, Class of 2010, of Cincinnati, Ohio, classical guitar; Ananda Plunkett, Class of 2011, of Williamstown, Massachusetts, vocalist; and Stewart Urist, Class of 2008, of Tully, New York, vocalist.
The Angela Waite Recital Series was a wedding anniversary gift to Angela Waite in 2000 from her husband Charles P. Waite, emeritus trustee, of San Francisco, California. The gift was a tribute to Mrs. Waite's involvement in the worlds of music and dance. She is a former violinist with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra.
