Eye on Commencement

GAMBIER, Ohio (May 31, 2007) After their final stroll as students on the Samuel Mather Lawn, 410 seniors took their first steps as Kenyon graduates during the 179th Commencement May 19. A sprinkling of rain did little to discourage the joy of achievement for the Class of 2007, family and friends.

David Gregory, the chief White House correspondent for NBC News, delivered the commencement address. The college awarded honorary degrees to Gregory and novelist Robb Forman Dew. Honorary degrees were also awarded to Reed St. Clair Browning, retiring professor of history; former dean of students Donald J. Omahan; Daniel B. Temple, retiring vice president for Library and Information Services; and Richard J. Trethewey, retiring professor of economics.

David N. Suggs, professor of anthropology, delivered the Baccalaureate address May 18.
