In Memory of Caleb

GAMBIER, Ohio (February 22, 2007) Members of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, First-Year Council, and the swim team are working with the Board of Campus Ministries to plan a campus memorial service for Caleb Gottinger shortly after classes resume following spring break. Caleb's parents plan to attend the service and will welcome all members of the Kenyon community. Details are forthcoming.

Meanwhile, funeral services for Caleb, a first-year student who died after an accidental fall this past weekend, will be held on Saturday, February 24, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Classmates, professors, and other community members who wish to attend should call the student affairs center at extension 5136.

Visitation hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Eastbrook Church at 5385 North Green Bay Avenue. The funeral service will immediately follow visitation. For more information, visit www.eastbrookchurch.org.

Caleb, who had turned 19 on February 16, just a day before his death, was the second of six children. He was a member of the swim team at Kenyon and a pledge of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. His siblings range in age from 13 to 21. The three oldest children, including Caleb, were born in Africa, where their parents were serving as missionaries. Caleb and his family returned to Africa for shorter periods to help provide emergency famine relief. All of the Gottinger children swim competitively. Caleb, a freestyler, was a state champion while a student at Riverside University High School in Milwaukee.
