Research Opportunities

The Biology Department curriculum encourages active engagment in experimental thinking from the first year through the senior year. Faculty research programs are specifically designed to encourage the participation of undergraduate students.

Most of our students begin their research experience with a month-long independent project in the second semester of the introductory lab. Many opportunities exist for continuing students, including:

  • paid research positions in faculty research labs,
  • the research in biology class,
  • honors research, and
  • the summer science program.

Most biology majors participate in research during their years at Kenyon. Many present their work at regional and national conferences. Student-faculty research is often published in professional journals.
