Runners honored
Sophomore cross country runners Jessica Francois and James Boston wrapped up their 2006 seasons with All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honors as well as All-Great Lakes regional honors.
Francois earned her spot on the All-NCAC team by placing sixteenth in the conference championship race. Two weeks later, she earned All-Region honors by capturing eighteenth place in a field that exceeded two hundred runners. Not only did that performance net hardware, but it also qualified Francois for entry into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III championship. At the national meet, held in West Chester, Ohio, and hosted by Wilmington College, Francois posted a time of 25:17, which was good for 127th place among 279 participants.
Francois led the Ladies in every race throughout the season and became the first Kenyon female athlete to compete in the national championship since Christina McNamara did so at the conclusion of the 2004 season.
On the men's course, Boston turned in a ninth-place performance at the conference meet and was named to the All-NCAC second team. Two weeks later, at the Great Lakes regional meet in Hanover, Indiana, he outdistanced 205 other runners on his way to a 26th-place finish with a time of 26:34.8. He was named to the All-Region team and concluded a season in which he led the Lords to the finish line in every race.
