Celebrate the season! President S. Georgia Nugent will host members of the administration, faculty, and staff, as well as Kenyon retirees, at a series of four holiday gatherings at Cromwell Cottage. Refreshments will be served, and entertainment will be provided by campus musicians.
All employees and retirees will receive an invitation for one of the four gatherings, which will be held from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, and Friday, December 8 and on Monday, December 11, and Tuesday, December 12. Replies should be made to the Office of the President at 5111.
This year, guests are being asked to bring canned goods to the gathering. All contributions will be forwarded to Food for the Hungry, which will distribute the goods to needy families in Knox County.
Want to publicize your event or meeting? Enter it on the online calendar. Note: Any major events scheduled to take place second semester should be entered before December 15 so that the public affairs staff can distribute news releases to local media outlets.
To enter your event:
1. Go to http://calendar.kenyon.edu (a link to the calendar is located at the very top of each page on the Kenyon Web site).
2. Click on the "Submit" tab in the right-hand corner of your screen.
3. Enter your regular Kenyon username and password in the login box and click "Login."
4. Select "Add a new event" and enter your event information in the appropriate fields. Click "Preview Event" and "Save Changes."
Calendar submissions will be reviewed daily by members of the public affairs staff before being published to the live calendar. If you have questions about the online calendar or problems submitting an event, please contact Patty Burns at burnsp@kenyon.edu or Rebecca Mazur at mazurr@kenyon.edu.
The end of the calendar year is a good time for employees covered by the Kenyon health insurance plan to anticipate whether any adjustments to coverage will be required next year. Employees with covered dependent children must notify the Office of Human Resources within sixty days of a change in status-for example, if the child turns twenty-three or is no longer a full-time student-if they wish the dependents' coverage to continue. For employees or retirees over sixty-five who might be considering the need for Medicare Part D coverage, it is important to know that prescription drug coverage provided through the Kenyon plan is considered "creditable coverage," equivalent to or better than Medicare Part D. For specific information about any health insurance question, contact Donna Simmerman at 427-5771.
