Kenyon in Rome at the Pantheon Institute
Enrich your Kenyon education with a semester in Italy! In the Fall of 2010, Kenyon College students will have the opportunity to engage in a unique program based in Rome, with extended visits to Florence, Naples/Pompeii, and other cultural centers in Italy. The Kenyon in Rome program offers students an exceptional opportunity to study Italian art and culture first hand with Kenyon professors. Participate in this irreplaceable experience with the special advantages of Kenyon credit for courses and Kenyon educational quality.
Open to all Kenyon students with Junior standing in Fall 2010, regardless of major.
Curriculum in Rome at the Pantheon Institute 2010
- Seminar on Poetry and the Visual Arts
- Poetry workshop on site throughout Rome
- Courses in art history, architectural history, studio art, literature, history, political science, and Italian interdisciplinary studies
- Italian language instruction (required): Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced levels

Program Facilities
- Instructional facilities at the Pantheon Institute in Rome are located just off the Piazza della Rotonda with a view of the glorious facade of the Pantheon, the ancient temple nearly two thousand years old.
- Residential facilities: Students will be housed nearby in the historic center of the Eternal City, and area characterized by open air cafes, outdoor markets, timeless monuments, and beautiful museums. In short walking distance from the campus and apartments are some of Rome's most famous sights, including the Piazza di Spagna with its gorgeous Spanish steps, the Fontana di Trevi, and the Camp de' Fiori.

Applying to the Program
Participation is limited to Kenyon students.
- Kenyon in Rome at the Pantheon Institute costs are covered by Kenyon tuition, room, board, and fees
- Requirements: Junior status by the semester abroad, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 (college requirement for off-campus study) At least one semester of Italian language instruction before Junior semester in Italy is highly recommended. Art History majors and minors are encouraged to participate in this program. THE PROGRAM IS OPEN TO STUDENTS OF ALL MAJORS
- Approval Must be obtained from the Center for Global Engagement.
- Art History majors and minors wishing to study art history abroad in Italy in their junior year should plan to apply to the Kenyon in Rome at the Pantheon Institute Program. Supported by the Art History Department, the Kenyon in Rome at the Pantheon Institute Program has been designed specifically with Kenyon students in mind and it maintains the rigorous scholarly standards required by the College.
