As a highlight of studying psychology at Kenyon, students enjoy research partnerships with faculty members, all of whom are active researchers. Beginning in their sophomore year, students participate in a variety of ongoing projects and may even co-publish papers in professional journals, a notable achievement as an undergraduate and highly desirable for those interested in graduate school.
Students who want to pursue more focused inquiry outside of the school year may apply for grants from the Summer Science Scholar program to conduct research under the supervision of a professor. Recent participants in this popular program have examined such topics as writing as an antidote to stress, animal communitcation, ethnicity, drinking, self and body esteem in child athletes, and the effects of drugs on the brain.
