Tournament Time

GAMBIER, Ohio (May 8, 2006) Not only did the Kenyon College Lords lacrosse team earn a berth in the upcoming NCAA Division III tournament, but it earned home field advantage as well. The Lords will host their first-round opponent, the Widener University Pioneers, Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Kenyon, making its first appearance in the national tournament since 2000, wrapped up its regular season with an 11-3 record. The Lords were one of just 20 teams selected for tournament play and one of three teams representing the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). The other two teams selected from the NCAC, Denison University and Ohio Wesleyan University, will face each other in first-round action.

Widener, Kenyon's opponent, finished its season with a 12-4 record. The Pioneers won the Middle Atlantic Conference and will be making their fifth trip to the NCAA tournament.

The winner of the first round game at McBride Field will move on to play at Gettysburg College in the second round on Saturday.

Ticket prices for Wednesday's game will be $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 12 and under. Students who have a valid Kenyon or Widener identification card will also be admitted for $1.
