Kenyon College Dramatic Club presents Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero

GAMBIER, Ohio (March 24, 2006) The Kenyon College Dramatic Club will present Lobby Hero, by Kenneth Lonergan, on Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1, at 8:00 p.m. in the Hill Theater of Kenyon's Shaffer Speech Building. The action, which takes place in the lobby of a high-rise apartment building in New York City, centers on two cops, Bill and Dawn, and two near-cops, security guards William and Jeff, all of whom become entangled in a murder investigation.

Lonergan's play debuted in New York in early 2001, at the same time that You Can Count on Me, a film that he wrote and directed, earned Academy Award nominations for best original screenplay and best actress. As in the film, Lonergan here effortlessly interweaves comedy and drama as his characters grapple with questions of morality. "If you stick to the rules, then you never have to have a discussion about whether or not you were justified not sticking to the rules," by-the-book William tells his young colleague, Jeff.

The four-person drama stars seniors Todd Detmold as Jeff, Rubin Miller as Bill, and Tricia Moreno as Dawn, and sophomore Brian Kettler as William. The production, which is the senior exercise of Detmold and Moreno, will be directed by senior Chris Loud. Juniors Lily Moore-Coll and Jessica Eddins are the set designer and production stage manager, respectively. Assistant professor Daniel Kramer is the advisor.

Admission is $1. The box office, at (740) 427-5546, will be open from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27, through Saturday, April 1, and one hour before each performance.
