Meet Our Staff

Scott Layson, Director

Scott joined the CDO as Director in October of 2010. Scott was previously an Associate Director in the office having left in late 2003 to pursue opportunities with OSU and the State of Ohio. Scott has sixteen years of combined career and workforce development experience. Scott completed his BA in Human Services and Counseling in 1994 at Western Washington University. Scott chose to continue his studies at WWU, completing his masters in Adult Education Administration in late 1995. Scott enjoys working with students and alumni of all backgrounds and at all stages of their career experience.

Allison Suflita, Associate Director

Allison hails from Buffalo, New York with a deep passion for career development. After attaining her master's degree in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College, she joined the CDO in June 2011. With a strong background in multiple student service areas, Allison recognizes the importance of understanding the individual and specializes in building relationships to meet the needs of students. Allison enjoys advising students and alumni, in addition to organizing on- and off-campus recruiting and monitoring social media and marketing for the office.

Leslie Harding, Associate Director

Leslie became a member of the CDO Staff in August 2012. Originally from Coshocton, OH, she brings an employer's perspective to Career Development. Leslie received her BA in Human Resource Management from Marietta College and her MBA from The Citadel in May 2012. Spending the last 8 years in Human Resources in Columbus, OH and Charleston, SC, she is looking forward to working more closely with students, helping them to identify and develop their career goals. Leslie's primary responsibilities include internship development, career counseling, alumni relations and experiential learning.

Karen Sheffield, Assistant Director

Once you've met Karen, you've got a friend. As coordinator of our Extern Program, she helps students arrange job-shadowing experiences with alumni/ae (and Karen knows lots of alumni/ae), parents, and friends of the college. She also works closely with the Kenyon Career Network (KCN) and provides career counseling, assistance in resume critiques, locating internships, full-time jobs, and mock interviews, etc.

Heidi Norris, Student Employment Coordinator

Heidi joined the Career Development Office staff as an Administrative Assistant in 2005 after working in the Accounting Department. As Student Employment Coordinator, Heidi oversees all aspects of on-campus employment for students. She works with campus supervisors, and facilitates the payroll process.

Diane Devlin, Administrative Assistant

Diane helps keep the CDO moving even through particularly hectic times. She works with the Associate Director assisting in on and off campus employer recruiting; she handles our library resources and various computer programs. Diane also manages a great amount of information for us, from busy program calendars and schedules to various databases.
