Senior art shows continue at Kenyon College
GAMBIER, Ohio (March 28, 2005) Kenyon College's senior studio art majors will continue to exhibit their work in the College's Olin Gallery, located in the Olin Library, with a new show opening on Monday, April 11. A reception from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the gallery will celebrate the opening.Exhibiting during the final week are Alexis B. Arnold of Sherman Oaks, California; Amanda W. Block of Morristown, New Jersey; and Dabney A. West of Louisville, Kentucky.
Arnold will exhibit her handcrafted furniture pieces inspired by Japanese aesthetics. Her goal was to obscure the lines between furniture and sculpture, craft and expression, and presentation and use.
Block will show her collection of eight larger-than-life oil paintings depicting enlarged and cropped images of both horses and humans.
West will show her narrative series of rich watercolor paintings that portray nonsensical adventure stories intended for both children and the child in each serious adult.
For this exhibit, the Olin Gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will be closed on Sunday. Admission is free.
