Senior art shows continue at Kenyon College
GAMBIER, Ohio (March 14, 2005) Kenyon College's senior studio art majors will continue to exhibit their work in the College's Olin Gallery, located in the Olin Library, with a new show opening on Monday, March 28. A reception from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Gallery will celebrate the opening.Exhibiting during the second week are Amanda L. Carpenter of New Philadelphia, Ohio; Rebecca B. Don of Northfield, Illinois; and David B. Livingston of New York City.
Carpenter will present a series of oil paintings entitled "Seeking First." She uses minimalism, abstraction and spherical forms to create evidence that there are things we cannot see but can be assured are there. Through her work, Carpenter is questioning who we are as created beings and where we come from in terms of our relationship with someone or something greater than ourselves.
A double major in psychology and studio art, Don's exhibit uses a combination of installation, sculpture, and digital media to investigate the physiological and sentimental significance of memory. Her question for the viewer is "what do we save and why do we save it?"
Livingston presents to the viewer a glimpse of the college-age slacker lifestyle with his large-scale oil paintings.
For this exhibit, the Olin Gallery is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It will be closed on Sunday. Admission is free.
