Psychologist and pediatrician Charles H. Zeanah Jr. to speak on child development at Kenyon College

GAMBIER, Ohio (February 8, 2005) Charles H. Zeanah Jr., professor of psychology and pediatrics, director of child and adolescent psychiatry, and vice chair of the departments of psychology and neurology at Tulane University, will present a talk on "Early Experience and Brain Development: The Bucharest Early Intervention Project" at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, in Kenyon College's Higley Auditorium.

Zeanah's research examines the effects of early experiences on brain and behavioral development. Focusing on children ranging in age from three to thirty months, he has compared three groups: children being raised in orphanages in Bucharest, Romania; children who have been removed from orphanages and placed into foster care; and children raised in their home by their parents.

Sponsored by Kenyon's Department of Psychology, Zeanah's talk is open to the public without charge.
