Family Weekend

The College expects to host more than 1,100 parents, siblings, and other family members during the weekend, which is one of the most popular events of the year. One of the highlights will be a "town meeting" with President S. Georgia Nugent and other members of the administration on Saturday, October 23, at 11:00 a.m. in the auditorium of Higley Hall. Another will be a reception at which parents can meet their students' professors. The reception, also on Saturday, takes place from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Gund Commons Lounge.
Cultural activities include musical performances by student groups, a photography exhibit by artist Pipo Nguyen-duy, and the Kenyon College Dramatic Club's performances of Bedroom Farce. The men's and women's soccer teams and the women's volleyball team have home contests, as do the varsity and junior varsity field hockey teams.
The Family Weekend schedule also includes activities at the Brown Family Environmental Center, a poster session with Kenyon's Summer Science Scholars, and a talk entitled "Britney's Belly and Brad's Pecs: Who do Kids Want to Look Like?" by Linda Smolak, professor of psychology and winner of the 2002 Trustee Teaching Excellence Award.
