Conference Kudos
Gambier, Ohio (September 24, 2004) A pair of Kenyon juniors recently earned weekly awards from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). Christina McNamara was tabbed the NCAC's cross country Runner of the Week after a fantastic race at the Midwest Collegiate Open, and Blair Heiser earned Player of the Week honors for her performance in two games on the soccer pitch.McNamara ran the 5,000-meter Collegiate Open course on Saturday, September 18, at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in a time of 18:43. Her time was good for eleventh place among 268 runners and was just a little over a minute off the winning pace. She has led the Ladies cross country team in all three races this season, garnering second- and third-place finishes in the first two meets.
Heiser was a key player in two recent Lady victories, a 2-0 win over Capital University and a 2-1 win over Baldwin-Wallace College. On Thursday, September 16, she recorded an assist on the Ladies' second goal against Capital, and then she came through again on Saturday, September 18, as she netted the game-winning goal against Baldwin-Wallace. Heiser, a midfielder, scored that goal from a direct kick with just 3:36 left in the game. She now has two goals and one assist this season for the Ladies.
