At times you will want to build a page that is identical to an existing page, except for the content. In such cases it may be more convenient to copy the existing page and paste it into the folder or section where you want it to display.

Creating pages using the copy and paste method.

  1. Right-click on the page you wish to copy in the Site Tree

  2. Click Copy (Be careful not to click "Cut")

  3. Right-click on the page the you wish to be the new page's parent in the Site Tree

  4. Click Paste

Tips and Pitfalls

  • The copy function will copy ALL children of the page you are copying. That's good if you need all the children. If you just need a single content page, you are probably better off creating the new page using Method 1.

  • If you copy an existing page, rename it and clear out ALL the existing content on it.

  • If you click paste when the file you have copied is still highlighted your new files will be children of the files you just copied. If this happens and wasn't what you wanted to happen, click on the plus sign of the file you copied to view its children, click and hold the left mouse button on the newly copied page, and drag the copy to the correct spot on the tree.
