Flawless Record

GAMBIER, Ohio (September 14, 2004) The Kenyon women's field hockey team celebrated their season home opener with a victory over the DePauw University Tigers Sunday, bringing the team's record to 4-0. That perfect start is the Ladies' best since the 1997 season, when the team began with a 7-0 record.

So far this season, the Ladies have allowed only 55 shots and just two goals in their first four games. During this past weekend's conference and home openers, goalkeeper Kimberly Brown racked up 11 saves. The sophomore made seven saves Saturday in the conference opener against College of Wooster, helping her team to a 2-1 victory and earning her the title of NCAC's field hockey Player of the Week. Sunday, she added four more saves to her record in the team's 1-0 defeat of the Tigers, Brown's second shutout win of the year. Brown and the Ladies defense have combined to post 0.50 goals against average this season.

The only goal the Ladies needed against DePauw (3-2) came off the stick of senior Maggie Rosen. She netted the game-winner at the 17:22 mark of the second half. Julia Boyer and Sarah Pfeifer assisted on the play.

The Ladies will go for win number five Saturday, September 18, when they host Seton Hill in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
