Chatham Baroque to perform at Kenyon College
GAMBIER, Ohio (September 1, 2004) Chatham Baroque, acclaimed for its virtuoso early music performances, will present a concert at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, in Kenyon College's Rosse Hall Auditorium. The program, entitled "Serious Fun," will feature music by Italian and English composers of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods whose culture and musical styles influenced one another.The Pittsburgh-based ensemble was named the Best New Classical Artist of 1999 by National Public Radio and also received the Early Music Brings History Alive Award from Early Music America and the Logan Award from Penn State Erie. Chatham Baroque has released seven critically acclaimed CDs for Dorian Recordings.
The ensemble features Julie Andrijeski and guest artist Carrie Krause on baroque violin, Patricia Halverson on viola da gamba, Scott Pauley on theorbo and baroque guitar, and guest artist Ronn McFarlane on lute.
Sponsored by the Taylor Concert Series and Kenyon's Department of Music, the concert is open to the public at no charge.
