Frequently Asked Questions About Testing
HOW IMPORTANT ARE TEST SCORES?
In reviewing your application to Kenyon, we give primary consideration to your high school transcript, recommendations from your teachers and/or counselor, and your application, including your personal statement and short answers on the Kenyon supplement. Of secondary consideration are your college entrance exam scores (SAT or ACT). Of lesser consideration will be SAT II and SAT I essay scores, which are not required.
DO I NEED TO TAKE THE WRITING PORTION OF THE ACT EXAM?
If you are applying to Kenyon, we do not require you to take the writing portion of the ACT exam. If, however, you are taking the new SAT, you will be required to write an essay as part of this exam. While the admissions committee will review your score on the essay, we will treat it as we do SAT II scores (also not required): as tertiary information.
