Transfer Students

Kenyon welcomes students who apply for admission after beginning undergraduate study at another institution. The admissions staff recognizes that not all students are comfortable with their initial college choice—and that academic and career goals often change during the college years. For this reason, the College accepts a limited number of transfer students each year, depending on their class year and the availability of living accommodations.

Students who wish to transfer to Kenyon should present secondary-school and college records that reflect an ability to do work of the quality expected at the College. In most cases, successful transfer applicants present grades of B or better in their current courses.

Steps for Applying as a Transfer Student

Have the following documents sent to the Office of Admissions. They must arrive by the deadlines!

  • Official transcript(s) from all high schools and colleges you've attended. They should list all your courses and grades, including this year's courses.
  • Results of the SAT I or the ACT. The College accepts test scores printed on official transcripts or score reports sent directly to Kenyon from the testing agencies. If you're a foreign applicant and English is not your first language, you must submit results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language.
  • College Official's Report for Transfer Admission, to be completed by the Dean of Students (or respective office) from each college or university that you attended full-time.
  • Instructor Evaluation (a recommendation from a professor).
  • Mid-Term Report.

Reactivating an application. If you completed a first-year application to Kenyon last year, then you may reapply by reactivating this application. Please place a written request by email to admissions@kenyon.edu or by mail to the Office of Admissions. You will also need to update your application by submitting the Transfer Supplement, College Official's Report, instructor's evaluation, final high school transcript, and official college transcript.
