Ask a Kenyon Student
Still have questions that our Web site and publications haven't answered? Ask a Kenyon tour guide! We welcome your questions, whether you want information (e.g., how many students take math at Kenyon?), wacky insights into student life (what's the craziest thing to do on a Saturday night in Gambier?), or just want our opinion (who's been your favorite professor and why?).
So ask away!
Andy Doten
Hey! My name is Andy and I'm a sophomore here at Kenyon. I am a psychology major from Western Springs, Illinois, which is outside of Chicago. I am a member of the Kenyon varsity men's lacrosse team. I'm an upperclass counselor and work in admissions as a tour guide. I am also a part of Greek life here on campus. I plan on going abroad next fall to either New Zealand or Australia. It is remarkable how many opportunities are available at a small school like Kenyon. I really like the atmosphere at Kenyon, and how laid back everyone is. If you have any questions, let me know. I'm happy to share all of my experiences at Kenyon with you.
Hannah Grisham
Hi y'all. My name is Hannah and I hail from Athens, Alabama. I am a junior and a double major in history and American studies. I'm a tour guide and a member of Archons, which is a co-ed service based Greek organization. I just recently joined ECO, the campus's environmental group. In the spring I'm studying abroad in South Africa and I am so excited for this opportunity. At the same time it's weird to think that this time next semester I won't be on "the Hill" and I know I'm going to miss it. If you have any questions about Kenyon, I would love love love to answer them. Thank you.
Sara Hirsch
Hi everyone! My name is Sara and I'm a senior international studies major, with a concentration in environmental studies. I grew up in Santa Monica, California, and I studied abroad last semester in Chile, so I'm glad to finally be back on Kenyon's campus for my final year. Outside of my classes, I perform with the Kenyon College Dance Ensemble, lead field trips for local elementary school kids at Kenyon's Brown Family Environmental Center (BFEC), and serve as a tour guide and an upperclass counselor. My favorite spot on campus is the BFEC, a great place to go for a hike, a nature walk, or just to get away from academic life on the hill. Kenyon is a fantastically wonderful place filled with books to read, interesting people to talk with, and new things to experience. I can't wait to hear your questions and to tell you all about this amazing school and all the things it has to offer!
Matt Lasnoski
Hey! My name is Matthew Lasnoski. I'm a first-generation college student from Sandusky, Ohio, which is an hour outside of Cleveland. I am a sophomore classics major and French minor here at Kenyon! I'm a captain on Kenyon's Mock Trial team. It has been a great experience because the team travels all over the country to attend different mock trial tournaments. I also work for admissions as a tour guide and for residential life as a Community Advisor. I spend a lot of my free time reading outside along Middle Path when the weather in Gambier permits me. Kenyon has offered me many challenging, interesting, and ultimately rewarding experiences that I would love to share with you. I look forward to answering any questions you may have.
Christian Martinez-Canchola
Hola! I am Christian Martinez-Canchola, a sophomore from Dallas, Texas. I'm an English and sociology double major and probably too involved with campus life than I should be. But that is what happens when you are a student here at Kenyon—you just want to give back all the time. Which is why I am involved with the KEEP (Kenyon Educational Enrichment Program) Program, the English & sociology Advisory boards, Adelante, the Diversity Task Force, Student Council, and Kenyon's own backwards walking club: admissions tour guides! I have also served as an upperclass counselor and pre-orientation service leader for first-year students so I am pretty well-informed about campus life. I would absolutely love to share my experience here, if you are interested, or answer any questions or concerns you might have. Even though I was a little timid about spending the next four years of my life amidst the cornfields, now I would not have it any other way.
Meg Murphy
Hey! My name is Meg Murphy and I'm a sophomore from Denver, Colorado. I'm a biology
major with a concentration in environmental studies, but I am fulfilling the prerequisites for medical school as well. In the fall, I play on the Kenyon Ladies soccer team. I am also a tour guide and a T.A. for intro chem lab. This year I am preparing to apply to study abroad and declare my major. In my spare time you can normally find me in a window booth at Middle Ground, the local coffee shop here on campus, or watching a movie with friends. Even though my life at Kenyon is extremely busy, I have loved every minute of it. I would love to answer any questions you might have about the Kenyon experience!
Nikola Popovic
Hi there! I am Nikola, an international student from Belgrade, Serbia. I am a rising sophomore and a political science major and possibly an economics major as well. Also I am a member of Model UN, ISAK, BSU, ADELANTE, swimming club, and Ohio ACTION, which is a student-run community service organization. Also I volunteer for Education USA Serbia. I like to spend my free time hanging out with my friends, biking, swimming or reading. I am a big water polo fan and I follow tennis and soccer. Kenyon is an amazing place full of great people that are very dear to me. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me!
Miles Purinton
Hi, my name is Miles, and I'm a sophomore and professional actor from New York City. I'm pursuing a synoptic major (Kenyon's create-your-own-major program) in scriptwriting—a way for me to pursue my passion for English and writing, while still sticking to my dramatic roots and love of theater. Extracurricularly, I'm president of the Kenyon Film Society, one of the co-presidents of Two Drink Minimum (a student stand-up comedy troupe) and a member of the Kenyon Poets Society. I have founded two new theater groups, have a recurring role on a Kenyon web-sitcom, and am a member of Wellness Housing, the substance-free residence hall on campus. Above all, I love Kenyon, and would be glad to answer any questions you have about this college and the surrounding community.
Cody Shankman
What's up? My name is Cody Shankman and I'm from Yarmouth, Maine. I'm a sophomore economics and sociology double major with a concentration in environmental studies. I try to stay pretty involved in the music scene at Kenyon; I sing in the Kokosingers, Kenyon's all-male a capella group, and play bass in Detroit Groove, a motown cover band. One of my favorite things to do at Kenyon is play intramural sports. Freshman year, my hallmates and I banded together and formed an intramural team called Lew Crew (named after our first year residence Lewis Hall). You've never truly experienced intensity until you have taken part in a game of b-league Intramural Soccer! I am a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, one of the fraternities here at Kenyon. I work at Middle Ground and in admissions as a tour guide. I also volunteer at first-year orientation as an Upper Class Counselor. Kenyon is one of my favorite places in the world and I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have!
