Tuition, fees to increase by 5.9 percent

In late February, the Executive Committee of Kenyon's Board of Trustees approved the College's tuition and other fees for the 2004-05 academic year. The figures for next year represent a 5.9 percent increase over the current year. Aid for students with financial need will rise accordingly.

Next year's tuition will be $31,260. Room charges will come to $2,480, based on a double-occupancy room in a traditional residence hall, and board will be $2,790. Other mandatory charges, which include the health and counseling fee and the student activities fees, add $910 to the bill, for a total of $37,440.

Kenyon's increase is similar to those for the other Ohio Five institutions. Denison University's total costs will increase by 5.8 percent, Oberlin College's by 5.1 percent, Ohio Wesleyan University's by 4.9 percent, and the College of Wooster's by 6.1 percent.
