Professor of Psychology Michael Levine is quoted in the December issue of Cosmopolitan magazine in a story about eating disorders. The article states that anorexia and bulimia are relatively rare, affecting roughly 5 percent of the population in the United States. But a much larger group of women--perhaps as many as 30 percent--suffers from what experts refer to as disordered eating patterns, which are habits that reflect an unhealthy mind-set about food even though body weight may be normal. "A lot of these patterns require a certain mind-set that sets you up to feel worse about yourself," Levine is quoted as saying.
