Career Resources
The department maintains a variety of materials regarding graduate studies, career options, and summer opportunities in sociology. These materials are designed to complement the more general resources and programs available at the Career Resource Center, and we encourage you to make use of both facilities as you pursue your plans beyond Kenyon.
Current career information is posted regularly on the bulletin board outside the department seminar room. Inside you'll find the latest issue of Society, a well-written journal of essays exploring current issues, book reviews, and discussions about sociology as a discipline.
Whether you're a new major or a graduating senior, a good place to start your search is to read the pamphlet, Careers in Sociology, that provides a sound overview of the kinds of work people do with sociology degrees. Take some time as well to read the file of "alumni letters 1993." On the twentieth anniversary of the department, we wrote all department alumni to learn what they were doing, how their major studies related to their current work, and what advice they had for undergraduate majors. The letters are quite interesting and informative.
