A Richer Life

In addition to what he's learned in Kenyon's classrooms, playing football with the Kenyon Lords has enriched Tom Giberson's life. "I've learned I can push myself farther than I thought I could. I've really learned how to carry myself on the field and in life."

"Most of all," he adds, "being on the team has led to great friendships. You find out you can do greater things with and for your teammates."

A student athlete while at the Lawrenceville School, in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Giberson plays on the offensive and defensive lines for the Lords. And he notes that playing college ball has enhanced his academic work. "Playing football forces you to discipline yourself. I plan to go on to law school, so that will be essential," he says.

Giberson, who majors in history with a concentration in the Integrated Program in Humane Studies (IPHS), has found mentors in Professors Glenn McNair and Michael Evans of the history department. "Professor McNair is an ex-FBI agent and just a really cool guy," he adds with a laugh.

Giberson eagerly awaits the 2003 season: "The new coaching staff has a great sense of confidence about the future."
